If Progressive is handling your auto claim, whether as your insurer or the other driver's, you have choices about where and how your vehicle is repaired. Firkins Collision Center in Bradenton works with Progressive customers from across Manatee County. Here's how a Progressive claim generally unfolds, what Florida law says about your rights, and what we do to help.
Firkins is independent and is not part of any Progressive program. We work with all insurance companies and assist with claim paperwork.
Reporting a Progressive Claim
Progressive's published claims information lists these options:
- Phone: 1-800-776-4737
- Progressive app: log in and report the accident
- Online: report through Progressive's website, either as a guest or logged in to your account
Collect photos, the other driver's information, a police report number if one was made, and your own notes about what happened. Our guide on what to do after a car accident in Bradenton has a full checklist.
How Photo Estimate Works
Progressive offers a Photo Estimate option on qualifying claims. According to Progressive, eligible customers get a text invitation, upload photos and a video of the damage in the app, and receive an estimate without an in-person inspection. Progressive notes it isn't available on every claim.
Photo estimates are useful for speed. They also have limits: they can only capture what's visible from the outside. Behind a scuffed bumper cover there may be a cracked absorber, bent reinforcement bar, broken brackets or damaged parking sensors. When we disassemble the vehicle and find that kind of damage, we document it and send a supplement. Our post on why repair estimates change explains the process.
Repair, Network Shop, or Payment?
Progressive describes several paths:
| Option | What Progressive says generally happens |
|---|---|
| Network shop | Progressive guarantees repairs at its network shops for as long as you own or lease the vehicle |
| Any shop you choose | You can use any shop; Progressive suggests confirming the shop guarantees its repairs |
| No repair | You can receive payment for the estimate minus your deductible; check with your lender first if you have a loan or lease |
If you're weighing whether to repair at all, read our article on filing a claim or paying out of pocket, and consider that unrepaired structural or sensor damage can affect how the vehicle performs in a future crash.
Your Florida Rights
- Parts quality: Under s. 626.9743, Florida Statutes, an insurer may not require replacement parts that are not at least equivalent in kind and quality to the damaged parts.
- Insurer-required shops: If an insurer specifically requires a particular shop, it must make sure the vehicle is restored to pre-loss condition at no added cost to you beyond the policy terms.
- Estimate copy: You're entitled to a copy of the written estimate behind a partial-loss settlement.
- Aftermarket disclosure: Estimates based on non-OEM crash parts must include a written disclosure under s. 501.33.

Keeping Your Claim Organized
A Progressive claim moves faster when everyone is working from the same information. A few habits help:
- Save your claim number in your phone and give it to us when you drop off the vehicle.
- Keep every estimate. If you received a Photo Estimate, bring a copy so we can compare it with our teardown findings.
- Track your expenses, including towing, storage and rental receipts.
- Put important questions in writing, such as through the app's messaging or email, so you have a record.
- Tell us about prior damage. If your vehicle had earlier dents or scratches, let us know so the estimate separates old damage from the new claim.
If your car was damaged by hail or a storm rather than a collision, Progressive will typically handle it under comprehensive coverage if you carry it. Our hail damage repair page explains how we approach those repairs, including paintless dent repair when the paint is intact.

Frequently asked questions
Can I choose Firkins for my Progressive claim?
Yes. Progressive's claims information says you can use any shop you like, and suggests confirming that the shop guarantees its repairs. Firkins provides a lifetime warranty on parts and labor for its workmanship.
How do I report a claim with Progressive?
Progressive lists three ways: call 1-800-776-4737, use the Progressive app, or report online through its website as a guest or by logging in. Report as soon as you safely can.
What is Progressive's Photo Estimate?
Progressive says eligible customers receive a text invitation to upload photos and a video of the damage in the app, and Progressive then sends an estimate without an in-person inspection. It notes that Photo Estimate is not available on all claims.
Can Progressive just pay me instead of fixing the car?
Progressive notes you can receive payment for the estimate minus your deductible instead of repairing. If you have a loan or lease, Progressive advises checking with your lender first, because it may require repairs. Unrepaired damage can also hide safety problems.
Is Firkins a Progressive network shop?
We do not claim membership in any insurer's network. We work with all insurance companies, including Progressive, and help with the claim paperwork.
