Anna Maria Island Auto Body & Collision Repair

Collision, dent and paint repair for Anna Maria, Holmes Beach and Bradenton Beach, with pickup and delivery off the island, 24/7 towing and free loaners.

Island life is easy on the soul and hard on cars. Between salt spray, blowing sand, intense sun and summer storms, vehicles on Anna Maria Island age faster than they would a few miles inland. Add packed beach parking, narrow streets, trolley stops and two bridges that bottleneck every afternoon, and you have plenty of chances for scrapes and dents. Firkins Collision Center has served Anna Maria, Holmes Beach and Bradenton Beach drivers for more than 20 years from our shop at 2700 1st St in Bradenton.

Because getting off the island can take time, we offer complimentary pickup and delivery, free loaner vehicles and 24/7 towing to make the process as painless as possible.

Island Driving: What's Different Here

Two bridges, one way off

Anna Maria Island connects to the mainland by two causeway bridges: the Manatee Avenue (SR-64) bridge from Holmes Beach across Perico Island and Palma Sola, and the Cortez Road (SR-684) bridge from Bradenton Beach to the village of Cortez. At the south end, the Longboat Pass Bridge links Bradenton Beach with Longboat Key. When either main bridge slows down for a crash, a bridge opening or construction, traffic stacks up fast. That's prime territory for rear-end collisions.

The Cortez Bridge replacement project began construction in 2026 and is expected to run several years, with traffic shifts along the way. Give yourself extra time and attention through the work zone.

Gulf Drive and Marina Drive

Gulf Drive and Marina Drive carry most of the island's traffic, alongside the free island trolley, cyclists, pedestrians with beach carts and golf carts. Low speed limits help, but frequent stops and people crossing to the beach mean plenty of low-speed bumps and mirror strikes.

Tight parking

Beach access parking along Gulf Drive, the lots near Manatee Public Beach and Coquina Beach, and narrow residential streets in Anna Maria city make door dings and corner scrapes common. Many of these are good candidates for paintless dent repair.

Salt, sand and sun

Salt spray settles on every surface near the Gulf. Combined with sand blasting from wind and strong UV exposure, it breaks down clear coat over time, especially on horizontal surfaces like hoods and roofs. Once a chip or scratch reaches bare metal, corrosion can follow. Our article on salt air and sun damage on Anna Maria Island goes into detail, and our auto painting and scratch repair services can restore damaged finishes.

Storm surge and flooding

The 2024 hurricane season was a hard reminder of how vulnerable the island is to surge. Vehicles that sit in salt water can suffer serious electrical and interior damage. Our storm and flood damage page explains what we inspect, and our blog covers hurricane and flood-damaged cars in Florida.

Routes From the Island to Our Shop

Starting point Route to 2700 1st St, Bradenton
Anna Maria city / Pine Ave South on Gulf Dr or Marina Dr to Manatee Ave, cross the bridge, east on Manatee Ave to 1st Street, then south.
Holmes Beach Manatee Ave east over the bridge and through West Bradenton to 1st Street, then south.
Bradenton Beach / Bridge St Cortez Rd bridge to Cortez, east on Cortez Rd to US-41, then north on 1st Street.
Coquina Beach area Gulf Dr north to Cortez Rd, then east to US-41 and north.

Outside peak beach hours the drive is manageable, but during season and on summer weekends, bridge traffic can add significant time. That's why many island customers simply schedule a pickup.

Caring for New Paint at the Beach

After a repair, new paint needs time to cure. For the first 30 days, avoid washing (especially high-pressure washes), don't wax or polish, park away from trees and bushes, and promptly remove bird droppings, tree sap and love bugs. On the island, rinsing salt off gently with fresh water is better than letting it sit, but skip the pressure washer.

Rentals, Visitors and Vacation Homes

Anna Maria Island hosts a lot of visitors, and fender benders involving rental cars and vacation-home guests are common. If you're visiting and get into a scrape, call the rental company first, since they often have their own repair process. If you own a vacation home and keep a car on the island, we can handle the repair while you're away: we'll coordinate pickup, keep you updated by phone, store the vehicle securely and deliver it back when it's done.

If you own a Jeep or other convertible for beach days, sand and salt get into seams, door hinges and lower panels. After any collision repair, we'll talk with you about keeping those areas clean. Our Jeep Wrangler collision repair guide has more on how these vehicles are built and repaired.

Frequently asked questions

Do you pick up cars on Anna Maria Island?

Yes. We offer complimentary pickup and delivery, so we can collect a drivable vehicle from Anna Maria, Holmes Beach or Bradenton Beach and return it when the repair is finished. That saves you a round trip over the bridges during busy beach traffic.

Which bridge should I use to get to your shop?

From Anna Maria and Holmes Beach, the Manatee Avenue (SR-64) bridge is usually the most direct: follow Manatee Avenue east to 1st Street, then turn south. From Bradenton Beach, the Cortez Road bridge leads to Cortez Road; take it east to US-41 and turn north. Construction on the Cortez Bridge replacement began in 2026, so expect shifting traffic patterns there.

Can salt air really damage my car's paint?

Salt spray, sand and strong sun all work on paint and exposed metal, especially where a chip or scratch has broken the clear coat. Regular fresh-water rinsing helps, and fixing chips early keeps corrosion from spreading. We can repair and color-match damaged areas.

My car sat in surge water during a hurricane. Is it worth repairing?

Salt water can damage wiring, sensors, modules and interiors, and many surge-flooded vehicles end up as total losses. Don't try to start it; have it towed, document everything and contact your insurer. We can inspect it and help you understand your options.

Do you repair golf carts or low-speed vehicles?

We repair cars, trucks, vans and SUVs of all makes. If you have damage on another type of vehicle, call us and we'll tell you honestly whether we can help.
