Palmetto Collision Repair Just Across the Manatee River
Palmetto drivers are one bridge away from Firkins Collision Center: collision, dent and paint repair with 24/7 towing, free loaners and pickup and delivery.
Palmetto sits on the north bank of the Manatee River, close enough to see downtown Bradenton across the water. That makes Firkins Collision Center one of the closest full-service collision centers to many Palmetto homes and businesses: cross the river, follow 1st Street south, and you're at 2700 1st St. For more than 20 years we've repaired cars, trucks and work vehicles for drivers on both sides of the river.
Palmetto's Roads and What They Do to Vehicles
Palmetto is a small city with big roads running through it. US-41, US-301 and Business 41 all funnel through town, and I-275 and US-19 connect it to the Sunshine Skyway and St. Petersburg. Add trucks heading to and from Port Manatee, and you get a mix of local drivers, commuters and heavy vehicles.
The bridges: DeSoto and Green
Two bridges carry most Palmetto traffic into Bradenton. The Hernando DeSoto Bridge carries US-41/US-301 and is the busier commuter route. The Green Bridge carries Business 41 between downtown Palmetto and downtown Bradenton. Bridge approaches are classic spots for sudden braking and merges — and that means rear-end collisions and sideswipes during morning and evening rush.
US-41 / US-301 through town
North of the river, US-41 and US-301 run together through Palmetto before US-301 splits off toward Ellenton at the 10th Street interchange. Drivers changing lanes for that split, plus traffic turning into businesses along 8th Avenue and 10th Street, create sideswipe and angle-crash risk.
Truck and port traffic
US-41 north toward Port Manatee carries tractor-trailers, gravel trucks and equipment haulers. Debris from loaded trucks can chip paint and crack bumpers, and lane changes next to big rigs can end in mirror strikes and scraped doors. Our scratch repair and bumper repair services cover most of that damage.
Farm roads and low spots
Palmetto still has an agricultural edge, with farm equipment on roads like Bayshore Road and around Terra Ceia and Memphis. On the waterfront side, low areas near Riverside Drive and the Terra Ceia Bay side are vulnerable during storm surge and heavy rain. If your vehicle took on water, read our guide to hurricane and flood-damaged cars in Florida and see our storm and flood damage service.

Fixing It Right: What Happens After Drop-Off
Palmetto drivers who cross the river to us get the same seven-step process as every customer:
- Free upfront estimate — we look at the visible damage and talk you through options.
- Disassembly and inspection — we remove damaged parts to find anything hidden, then build a complete repair plan.
- Parts ordering — OEM parts whenever possible, with Mopar parts available on-site for Stellantis vehicles.
- Structural repairs — frame and unibody work brought back to factory specifications.
- Body repair — dent removal, panel repair or panel replacement.
- Paint and reassembly — color-matched refinishing, detailing and putting it all back together.
- Final inspection and road test — before you pick up, with progress updates along the way.
If your insurer's first estimate changes after disassembly, that's normal. Hidden damage often turns up once panels come off, and we handle the supplement with the insurer. Read more in why repair estimates change.
While you wait for a smaller repair, our customer lounge has free Wi-Fi, coffee and TV, and our shuttle service can help if you'd rather head back across the river.

Frequently asked questions
How do I get from Palmetto to Firkins Collision Center?
The simplest route is US-41/US-301 south over the DeSoto Bridge, which lands on 1st Street in Bradenton. Stay on 1st Street south past downtown to 2700 1st St. You can also cross on the Green Bridge (Business 41) into downtown Bradenton and then head south on 1st Street.
What happens if the DeSoto or Green Bridge is backed up after a crash?
Both bridges can slow down during rush hour, events and crashes. If one is jammed, the other is often a workable alternative. If your car isn't drivable, our 24-hour towing line can get it to us regardless of which bridge the driver uses.
Do you tow from Port Manatee, Memphis or Terra Ceia?
Yes. Our 24/7 towing assistance covers Palmetto and nearby areas including Memphis, Terra Ceia and the US-41 corridor toward Port Manatee. Call (941) 749-1450 any time.
Do you repair work trucks and vans?
We repair all makes and models, including pickup trucks, vans and SUVs used for work. With an on-site Mopar parts department, we're well set up for Ram trucks and ProMaster vans, but we repair Ford, Chevrolet, Toyota and others too.
Can someone help me in Spanish?
Yes. We have Spanish-speaking staff and a dedicated Spanish line at (941) 357-5162, so you can get your estimate, claim help and repair updates in Spanish.
