If Liberty Mutual is the insurer on your claim, either your own policy or the at-fault driver's, Firkins Collision Center in Bradenton can repair your vehicle and help you through the process. This page explains how a Liberty Mutual auto claim generally works, what Florida law says about your rights, and how we make the repair side as simple as possible.
Firkins is an independent collision center. We don't claim to be part of any Liberty Mutual program. We work with all insurance companies and help customers with claim paperwork.
Filing a Liberty Mutual Auto Claim
Liberty Mutual's published claims information lists three ways to file:
- Online: Liberty Mutual says online filing is available 24/7 and takes about 5 to 10 minutes. You'll need your login, the approximate date of the incident and general details.
- Mobile app: File, track and manage your claim in the Liberty Mutual app.
- Phone: 800-2CLAIMS.
Before you file, gather photos, the other driver's information, any police report number, and witness contacts. Our guide on what to do after a car accident in Bradenton walks through it.
Photo Estimates and Reinspections
Liberty Mutual says you can upload damage photos through your online account or the app, and that the app guides you through taking them. In some cases, photos are all that's needed.
Photo estimates are a reasonable starting point, but many collision repairs reveal more once a bumper or panel is removed. Liberty Mutual notes that if more damage is found, the vehicle may be reinspected. At Firkins, we document hidden damage with photos and submit it so the claim can be updated. Our article on why repair estimates change explains what a supplement is.
Choosing a Repair Shop
Liberty Mutual's process asks you to select an auto shop, which then calculates the damage related to your loss. Liberty Mutual offers its Guaranteed Repair Network as one option. Ask your representative to explain how payment, warranty and scheduling differ depending on which shop you choose, so you can decide what matters most to you.
How payment works
Liberty Mutual says payment is the repair cost minus your deductible. If you have a lienholder, payment goes to you and your chosen shop.
Rental cars
Liberty Mutual says you can reserve a rental through your online account and that it partners with Enterprise. Whether you have rental coverage, and for how long, depends on your policy. Our post on rental car coverage during repairs covers common questions.
Your Rights Under Florida Law
- Like-kind-and-quality parts: Section 626.9743, Florida Statutes says an insurer may not require replacement parts that are not at least equivalent in kind and quality to the damaged parts.
- Insurer-required shops: An insurer that specifically requires a particular repair shop must make sure the vehicle is restored to pre-loss condition at no added cost beyond your policy terms.
- Estimate copy: You can get a copy of the estimate a partial-loss settlement is based on.
- Written repair estimates: The Florida Motor Vehicle Repair Act (s. 559.905) gives you estimate rights for repairs over $150.

After You Pick Up Your Car
New paint needs time to fully cure, and Florida sun, love bugs and tree sap don't help. For the first 30 days, avoid washing (especially high-pressure washes), skip waxing or polishing the new paint, park away from trees and bushes, and remove bird droppings and bug residue promptly. Our article on protecting new paint in the Florida sun has more.
