Toyota Collision Repair in Bradenton, FL

Collision repair for Camry, RAV4, Corolla, Tacoma, Tundra and Highlander owners in Bradenton. All makes and models, OEM parts whenever possible.

Toyotas are everywhere in Manatee County. Camrys and Corollas fill commuter lanes on I-75, RAV4s and Highlanders shuttle families around Lakewood Ranch, and Tacomas and Tundras haul kayaks and fishing gear out to Cortez. Toyota owners tend to keep their vehicles a long time, so when one is damaged, the repair should last as long as the car does. Firkins Collision Center is a Toyota body shop in Bradenton that repairs all makes and models at 2700 1st St, using OEM parts whenever possible.

Toyota Models We Repair Most

  • Camry and Corolla: two of the most common sedans on Bradenton roads
  • RAV4 and RAV4 Hybrid / Prime: compact SUVs that see plenty of parking-lot and fender-bender damage
  • Highlander and Grand Highlander: three-row family SUVs
  • Tacoma: midsize pickup, popular with anglers and off-roaders
  • Tundra: full-size pickup
  • 4Runner and Sequoia: body-on-frame SUVs
  • Prius, Corolla Cross and Sienna: hybrids and family haulers

Every vehicle goes through our seven-step repair process, starting with a teardown to find hidden damage.

How Toyotas Are Built

Car and Crossover Platforms

Most current Toyota cars and crossovers, including the Camry, Corolla, RAV4, Highlander and Sienna, are built on Toyota's TNGA platforms. These unibody structures use high-strength and ultra-high-strength steels, including hot-stamped parts in the pillars and roof rails, to protect occupants. Some models also use aluminum to save weight. For example, the RAV4 that debuted for 2019 uses aluminum for several closure panels, including the hood.

What that means for collision repair: ultra-high-strength steel often can't be heated or straightened, and Toyota's repair procedures specify where sectioning is allowed and which parts must be replaced. Aluminum panels need dedicated tools to avoid steel contamination and corrosion. Our frame straightening process uses frame machines and computer-assisted measuring to restore factory dimensions.

Tundra: Steel Frame, Composite Bed

The Tundra redesigned for 2022 rides on a high-strength, fully boxed steel ladder frame. Its bed is made of a sheet-molded composite with aluminum crossmembers for reinforcement. Composite beds resist dents and won't rust, which is a plus in Florida, but a hard hit can crack or break them instead of denting, so repairs often mean replacing bed components rather than pulling dents.

Tacoma and 4Runner

The Tacoma and 4Runner are body-on-frame vehicles that see a lot of off-road and boat-ramp use. The Tacoma has long used a composite inner bed, and the newest generation continues with a composite bed. A rear hit while towing, or a slip on a ramp, can affect the frame and hitch area even when the body damage looks minor. Watch for the signs of frame damage.

Toyota Safety Sense and Driver-Assist Features

Most newer Toyotas include a version of Toyota Safety Sense. Depending on model and year, features may include:

  • Pre-Collision System with pedestrian detection
  • Lane Departure Alert with steering assist and Lane Tracing Assist
  • Dynamic Radar Cruise Control
  • Automatic High Beams and Road Sign Assist
  • Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert
  • Parking sensors and panoramic view monitor

These systems rely on a windshield-mounted camera, a radar sensor behind the front emblem or grille, and sensors in the rear bumper. Even a light hit or a replaced bumper cover can affect them. After a collision repair, ask your estimator how your vehicle's systems will be verified. Learn more in ADAS sensors after a collision.

Hybrids: Prius, RAV4 Hybrid and More

Toyota sells more hybrids than almost anyone, and many Manatee County drivers own one. Hybrid repairs involve additional safety steps around the high-voltage battery and orange cabling, and some repairs, like welding or paint curing near high-voltage components, require planning. We repair all makes and models, including hybrids.

OEM Parts Whenever Possible

We use OEM parts whenever possible on Toyota repairs. Many Toyota bumpers, grilles and emblems house sensors, and an exact-fit part helps those systems sit where they were designed. Read OEM vs. aftermarket parts before you talk to your insurer. You can also learn about your right to choose a body shop in Florida.

Paint That Lasts in the Florida Sun

Toyota's pearl whites and metallics take careful blending. Our auto painting is done in a dedicated booth with a waterborne paint system. After your repair, skip pressure washes and wax for 30 days, and clean off love bugs and bird droppings promptly.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to take my Toyota to a Toyota dealer for body work?

No. Florida drivers have the right to choose their own repair shop. Firkins Collision Center repairs all makes and models, including Toyota, and uses OEM parts whenever possible.

Is the Toyota Tundra bed metal?

On the Tundra redesigned for 2022, the bed is made of a sheet-molded composite reinforced with aluminum crossmembers, sitting on a high-strength steel frame. Composite beds resist dents and rust but can crack on a hard impact, so repairs are handled differently than a steel bed.

Should Toyota Safety Sense be checked after a collision repair?

Yes, it's a good idea. Toyota Safety Sense relies on a windshield camera and front radar, and many models also have blind-spot radar in the rear bumper. Ask your estimator how your vehicle's systems will be verified after repairs.

Can you repair Toyota hybrids like the Prius, RAV4 Hybrid or Camry Hybrid?

Yes. We repair all makes and models, including hybrids. Hybrid repairs involve additional safety steps around the high-voltage battery and wiring, and your estimator can explain how your car will be handled.

Will you use genuine Toyota parts?

We use OEM parts whenever possible, and your estimate lists the parts planned for your repair. If your insurer specifies non-OEM parts, we can explain the differences and your options.
