Ram Truck Collision Repair in Bradenton, FL
Collision repair for Ram 1500, heavy-duty and ProMaster owners in Bradenton, with frame measuring, an on-site Mopar parts department and a lifetime warranty.
Ram trucks do real work around Manatee County. They pull boats to the Kingfish Ramp, haul mulch out to Parrish, and spend all day on job sites off US-301 and SR-70. When one comes in damaged, the repair needs to restore both the looks and the strength underneath. As a Ram body shop in Bradenton, Firkins Collision Center has an advantage: we share the property with Firkins Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram & Mitsubishi at 2700 1st St, and the on-site Mopar parts department is right there.
Ram Models We Repair Most
- Ram 1500: the half-ton that's driveway and daily driver for a lot of local families
- Ram 1500 Classic: the older body style, kept on sale alongside the newer truck for years
- Ram 2500 and 3500 Heavy Duty: towing rigs and work trucks, including dually models
- Ram ProMaster and ProMaster City: commercial vans for contractors and delivery fleets
- Chassis cab trucks with upfitted beds and bodies
Whatever the model, the work follows our seven-step repair process, starting with a teardown to find damage that isn't visible from the outside.
How Ram Trucks Are Built
The Frame Comes First
Every Ram pickup uses body-on-frame construction. On the fifth-generation Ram 1500 (2019 and newer), the ladder frame is built almost entirely from higher-strength steel. That steel gives the truck its towing capacity, but it also means the factory repair procedures limit how the frame may be straightened. Heat, for example, can permanently weaken high-strength steel, so procedures may call for cold straightening or replacing a part outright.
We place trucks on frame machines and use computer-assisted measuring to compare control points to factory specs. A rear-end hit while towing, a hard pothole strike or a side impact can shift a rail even when the bed looks straight. Learn more on our frame straightening page or in signs of frame damage.
Steel Cab, Aluminum Closures
On the newer Ram 1500, the hood and tailgate are aluminum, while the cab and bed are steel. The cab structure uses hot-stamped steel in the door rings and roof headers. Hot-stamped steel is extremely strong and can't be straightened or sectioned just anywhere, so manufacturer procedures dictate replacement locations and joining methods. Aluminum hoods and tailgates need dedicated tools to avoid steel contamination that can lead to corrosion.
Beds, RamBox and Tailgates
Bed damage is common on working trucks. Ram offers options like the RamBox cargo management system and the multifunction split tailgate, both of which have more hinges, latches, wiring and seals than a plain bed. Rear sensors and the backup camera often live in the tailgate or bumper, so a seemingly simple rear hit can involve several systems. Our rear-end collision repair work accounts for all of it.
Driver-Assist Systems Worth Checking
Depending on year and trim, your Ram may have:
- Front radar for adaptive cruise and automatic emergency braking
- A windshield camera for lane keep assist
- Blind-spot monitoring with trailer detection (radar in the rear bumper corners)
- Front and rear park assist sensors
- Surround-view and trailer cameras
Brackets, bumper covers and tailgates can shift the aim of these sensors. After a collision repair it's wise to confirm everything works the way it should. Ask your estimator how your truck's systems will be verified, and read ADAS sensors after a collision for background.
Mopar Parts on Site
Ram trucks have many variations: cab sizes, bed lengths, trims, Sport and Laramie grilles, lighting packages. Getting the exact right part matters. Because Firkins is a Ram dealership, the collision center can source Mopar parts from the on-site parts department, and we use OEM parts whenever possible. If you're weighing parts options with your insurer, see OEM vs. aftermarket parts.
Running aftermarket bumpers, a leveling kit, a tonneau cover or a toolbox? Tell us up front so those items are documented on the estimate.
Florida Work, Florida Weather
Trucks that launch boats see salt water on the frame and undercarriage. Trucks that park outside all summer take the full Florida sun. Our color-matched auto painting uses a waterborne paint system in a dedicated booth, and we'll give you aftercare tips for the first 30 days, such as avoiding pressure washers and wax and cleaning off love bugs promptly.

Frequently asked questions
Can you fix frame damage on my Ram truck?
In many cases, yes. Ram pickups ride on a high-strength steel ladder frame, and we measure it against factory dimensions with computer-assisted equipment before deciding whether to straighten or replace parts. The manufacturer's repair procedures set limits on what can be straightened, and we follow them.
Is the Ram 1500 tailgate aluminum?
On the fifth-generation Ram 1500 that launched for 2019, the tailgate and hood are aluminum, while the cab and bed are steel. Aluminum calls for dedicated tools and handling, and some damaged aluminum parts are replaced rather than repaired.
Do you use Mopar parts on Ram repairs?
Firkins Collision Center is on-site with Firkins Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram and Mitsubishi, which has a Mopar parts department. We use OEM parts whenever possible, and your estimate shows exactly what will be installed.
Will my truck's sensors need attention after a bed or bumper repair?
They may. Many Rams have blind-spot radar in the rear bumper corners, parking sensors, cameras and front radar. Ask your estimator how your truck's systems will be verified once repairs are finished.
Can you repair a work truck or a ProMaster van?
Yes. We repair all makes and models, including commercial Ram trucks and vans. Let us know how the vehicle is used so we can talk through parts timing and loaner or rental options.
Wrecked, dented or scratched? Let's look at it.
