Collision Repair for West Bradenton Drivers

Collision and auto body repair for Palma Sola, Bayshore Gardens, Perico and the 59th/75th Street corridors, a straight shot down Manatee Ave or Cortez Rd.

West Bradenton is a mix of quiet canal streets, busy shopping corridors and the last few miles of mainland before the islands. If you live off 75th Street, work near Blake Medical Center, or drive past Palma Sola Bay every day, Firkins Collision Center is an easy run east to 2700 1st St. For more than 20 years we've repaired vehicles for Bradenton-area drivers, and a big share of them come from west of 26th Street.

The West Bradenton Driving Picture

West Bradenton's roads carry a lot more than local traffic. Two of the county's main routes to Anna Maria Island — Manatee Avenue (SR-64) and Cortez Road (SR-684) — run straight through it, which means you share the road with beachgoers, rental cars, boat trailers and, from roughly January through April, a big wave of seasonal residents.

Manatee Avenue West

From 1st Street out to the Palma Sola Causeway, Manatee Avenue is lined with shopping plazas, restaurants and medical offices, with signals at 26th, 34th, 43rd, 51st, 59th and 75th Streets West. Weekend beach traffic heading west in the morning and east at sunset brings sudden slowdowns. That's where rear-end collisions start, often with damage that's worse under the bumper cover than it looks.

Cortez Road West

Cortez Road is one of the busiest commercial strips in the area, with dense driveways between US-41 and 75th Street West. Turning traffic, plaza exits and frequent lane changes lead to angle hits and sideswipes. If a scrape went deep, our scratch repair and bumper repair services handle most of it.

59th Street, 75th Street and 53rd Avenue

The north-south roads are the connectors between Manatee and Cortez, and they carry school, hospital and neighborhood traffic. 53rd Avenue West near IMG Academy and 34th Street West sees heavy pickup and drop-off traffic during the school year, along with visitors who don't know the area.

Low-lying neighborhoods and storm surge

Parts of West Bradenton sit close to sea level, especially near Palma Sola Bay, Perico Bayou, Warner's Bayou and the waterfront streets off Riverview Boulevard. Recent hurricane seasons showed how quickly surge and heavy rain can reach driveways and garages here. Salt water is hard on modern vehicles, and our storm and flood damage page explains what we look for. For background reading, see our article on hurricane and flood-damaged cars in Florida.

What We Repair for West Bradenton Customers

We repair all makes and models, from family SUVs and golf-club-hauling sedans to work trucks and Jeeps that see the beach. Common jobs include:

  • Parking lot and plaza damage — door dings, crunched corners, mirror strikes
  • Rear-end and intersection collisions on Manatee and Cortez
  • Paint damage from sun, salt and love bugs — see our tips on protecting new paint in the Florida sun
  • Structural repairs using frame machines and computer-assisted measuring
  • Small dents fixed with paintless dent repair when the paint isn't broken

Every repair is backed by our lifetime warranty on parts and labor, and we use OEM parts whenever possible.

Season, Snowbirds and Parking Lot Dings

West Bradenton's population swells each winter, and the effect shows up in parking lots first. Plazas along Cortez Road and Manatee Avenue, the grocery stores near 75th Street, and the busy lots around Blake Medical Center all fill up from roughly January through April. Tight spaces and unfamiliar drivers mean more door dings, mirror strikes and slow backing collisions.

A few tips while traffic is heavy:

  • Park at the end of a row when you can, away from cart corrals.
  • Leave extra room at the Palma Sola Causeway and other spots where beach traffic slows suddenly.
  • Photograph minor damage right away, even if you don't plan to fix it immediately, in case another driver was involved.

Small dents and scuffs are worth looking at sooner rather than later. In Florida's sun and humidity, a scratch through the clear coat can start to fade or corrode. Our post on hidden damage after a fender bender explains why a "minor" bump deserves a second look.

Sensors and Safety Systems After a Hit

Many newer vehicles have radar sensors behind the front grille or bumper and cameras in the windshield and mirrors. Even a low-speed tap on Manatee Avenue can knock them out of alignment. After a collision these systems may need to be checked or recalibrated, so ask your estimator how your vehicle's systems will be verified. Our post on ADAS sensors after a collision explains why this matters.

Frequently asked questions

How do I get from West Bradenton to Firkins Collision Center?

Most West Bradenton drivers take either Manatee Avenue or Cortez Road east to US-41 (1st Street). From Manatee Avenue, turn south on 1st Street; from Cortez Road, turn north. Our shop is at 2700 1st St, between the two.

Can you pick up my car from my home in Palma Sola or Bayshore Gardens?

Yes. We offer complimentary pickup and delivery, so we can collect a drivable vehicle from your home or office in West Bradenton and bring it back when the repair is done. Call the collision center to schedule it.

My car sat in salt water during a storm surge. Can you fix it?

It depends on how high the water reached and how long it sat. Salt water can damage wiring, modules and interiors, and some flooded cars end up as total losses. Have it towed rather than driven, and we'll inspect it and help you work through the claim with your insurer.

Do you repair cars for IMG Academy families and visitors?

We repair any vehicle, including rentals and out-of-state cars. If you're visiting or living near 34th Street West for school, we can work with your insurer, arrange a loaner or rental, and keep you updated by phone.

Do you fix minor scrapes from parking lots?

Yes. Bumper scuffs, door dings and scratches are some of our most common West Bradenton repairs. Many small dents can be fixed with paintless dent repair, which keeps your factory finish intact.
